EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE
(Open Door Program)
WHAT IS EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE?
The DuPage Open Door program is a cooperation between the Illinois
Department of Human Services, the
DuPage Federation on Human Services Reform, and the DuPage
County Department of Community Services.
Loaves & Fishes Community Pantry (L&F) has agreed to partner with the DuPage
Open Door Program to facilitate referrals for Loaves & Fishes clients
needing emergency assistance in the following areas:
• Medical Crisis – Prescription filled in 24 hours
• Mental Illness – Linkage to local community mental health centers
• Homelessness/ Pending eviction – Referral to a homeless shelter or agency
to assist with advocacy regarding landlord or mortgage disputes
• Clothing – Assistance with proper clothing based on time of season through
referral
• Substance Abuse – Linkage to appropriate DHS or community service provider
for immediate assistance
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR SERVICES?
Only pantry clients and individual members of a client household will be
eligible for the services offered
through the pantry. Clients must also meet income and other eligibility
requirements under the benefit program.
