Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot supports Loaves & Fishes
From left, DuPage County Chairman Dan Cronin, Loaves & Fishes Development Director Vicki Verboom, Loaves & Fishes Executive Director Charles McLimans, and Dan Gibbons of the Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot attended a check presentation ceremony for charities benefiting from the 28th annual Thanksgiving event, which raised $159,000. Loaves & Fishes received $26,500.

For donating nearly $600! In addition, children served by Loaves & Fishes
will enjoy a special assortment of highly nutritious ConAgra Foods products during the upcoming winter recess. As part of its commitment to the ideal that “Child Hunger Ends Here,” more than 40 ConAgra Foods employees in the Naperville office packed 10,361 pounds of foods like Peter Pan Peanut Butter, Wolf Brand Chili, a variety of Chef Boyardee, Healthy Choice and La Choy meals, and favorites like Snack Pack puddings, Swiss Miss hot chocolate and Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn. While the children love all these foods, the peanut butter donation is especially prized this year due to ongoing commodity shortages.
Karl Sears, vice president and general manager, oils and spreads, presented Loaves & Fishes with the cash donation on December 8. "We're extremely happy to partner with Loaves & Fishes, which helps thousands of local families in need," said Sears. "Plus, this is one more way our company and employees are contributing to ending child hunger."
Winter recess also brings the need for warm accessories. The ConAgra Asian Network addresses this need by sponsoring a Hat & Mitten drive for Loaves & Fishes. ConAgra Foods has provided more than 44,000 pounds of product since beginning the semi-annual food pack tradition in 2008.
