Giving Tuesday is a global movement unleashing the power of generosity. Tuesday, November 29, is a day dedicated to inspiring people to give their time, talent, and donations to non-profit organizations in the spirit of celebrating generosity.

The staff at Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry is not happy with how the back room of the nonprofit’s building on Jericho Road in Aurora looks right now.

Storage shelves once brimming with food are half empty.

And with need rising – Aurora’s largest pantry is serving 35% more people this year, including 40 new families a week – “we are receiving fewer donations,” noted spokesperson Alyssa Edwards.

Which means, she added, because “we are giving out more than we are getting in, our food is getting scarce.”
