Day Without Hunger a Success!

The Community BBQ and live entertainment were a big hit during Day Without Hunger – Freedom from Hunger 2013.

Thanks to everyone whose dedication and hard work made Loaves & Fishes Community Pantry’s Day Without Hunger 2013 the biggest and best yet. It was a beautiful day in every respect.

Our core values of Community, Compassion, Dignity, Hope and Service were demonstrated to more than 2,000 people (including volunteers) who came through Loaves & Fishes that day. Judging from the amount of food we went through, our guests were definitely free of hunger.

In addition to raising awareness of hunger in our community, we also raised around $10,000 in free-will donations, through a book fair and raffle tickets.

First and foremost, thanks to presenting sponsors, BMO Harris Bank and the City of Naperville’s Special Events and Cultural Amenities fund, and Platinum sponsor, Thrivent Financial, for making Day Without Hunger possible. Special thanks to food and beverage sponsors, including Belgio’s Catering, Cargill Food Distribution, Casey’s Foods, ConAgra Foods, Cooper’s Hawk, PepsiCo, Turano Bakery, Whole Foods Naperville, and World of Beer for their outstanding generosity.

Hix Bros Music anchored a lineup of exceptional entertainment throughout the day. We also recognize the contributions of Readerlink for sponsoring the book fair, our partner exhibitors, and the many local businesses who donated raffle prizes.

Special thanks and kudos to the absolutely fabulous team who led and organized this event. Their leadership uplifted the spirits of so many people during Day Without Hunger, and will continue to do so by engaging many others in our work and cause.

And finally, we are grateful to all our guests who came to support the work of Loaves & Fishes and the idea of a time when every day will be a day without hunger.

The DuPage Children's Museum were one of the many exhibitors present that provided free family-friendly activities that entertained guests throughout the day.
